This program is for children 2-6 years of age. This program begins promptly at 3:30 p.m. A library staff member will come to the Children’s Department to let children know that it is time for the program.

 

Each week children will be introduced to a different theme through a combination of stories, songs, finger plays, and crafts. Children who attend this program should be able to color and use glue sticks independently. A parent or guardian must attend story time with children under 3 to assist with finger plays and craft projects.  

 

In accordance with Library Policy 802 parents and guardians must remain in the building with all children under 5.

 

All the children will be escorted back to the Children’s Department at the end of the program.

Science Rocks Camp - Ages 7-12

 

Children ages 7-12 will participate in various science related activities during these one-hour daily sessions.

 

Each session will include oral story presentations and hands on demonstrations of science experiments.

 

Participants will learn the importance of group participation, quiet observation, and consideration to peers as we explore the mysteries of science.

 

This program will be held at the city park in Brownstown. Participants should be brought to the park and picked up following the program each day. 

Participants should wear clothing and shoes that are comfortable for active play and hands on experimentation.

Brownstown Elementary Students: Bus 24 will transport children from the school to the library.  Please send a note to your child’s teacher the day of the meeting explaining the bus change.
 

All Parents: Should make arrangements to pick up their children promptly at 4:30 p.m.

If school is canceled due to weather the book club will also be canceled and that meeting will not be rescheduled.

 

Registration is required and limited to 25 participants.  You may register in person or by calling the library at 812-358-2853.

Kids Only Book Club

Kids Only Book Club

3rd & 4th Graders

Participants must have read one book before each meeting. During the meeting each participant will give a brief book talk about their selection. Keep in mind that the goal of a book talk is to tell enough about the title to encourage fellow participants to read the title, without giving away the ending. 
Following the book talks, participants will have time to socialize, make recommendations for future programs, and participate in various group activities. 


Snacks will be provided during all meetings. If your child has any food allergies or food related medical conditions, please send a snack with your child.

Bus transportation after school is available to the library, please check with your school for current bus route.
